Happy New Year, faithful SoG participants! It’s been an exciting year, and that’s an understatement. With the release of Deathly Hallows, working through the interlibrum together, sharing thoughts and predictions, and then starting serious analysis afterwards, we were able to take part together in a cultural phenomenon unlike any we’ve seen before.
So thank you all for being here! And thanks to your comments and participation, I’d argue that SoG had some of the best post-DH analysis anywhere on the internet.
What’s in store for the coming year? Several exciting things:
- More excellent work from the Blogengamot. Matthew, Dave, Johnny, and I will continue to bring you excellent essays, discussion-starters, and links to what’s going on in Fandom.
- My Book’s Release. I’m still plugging through the book, and I’m looking forward to the day that we can celebrate its release!
- Half-Blood Prince Movie. This will probably be the next major Harry Potter event.
- Portus 2008. Today, I submitted two proposals to Portus 2008, a Harry Potter Symposium being held in Dallas, TX July 10-13, and I also requested a place in their Podcast Palooza. I’ll keep you posted as they respond. I’ll also be putting up Portus news items, as that’s part of the agreement when requesting a “Press Pass.”
- Terminus 2008. There’s also a good chance I’ll be submitting proposals for Terminus 2008 in Chicago, August 7-11.
- Hog’s Head PubCast. The podcast will get back on a fairly regular schedule, and I hope to include more interviews in the future.
Once again, thank you all. This whole project would never have worked, SoG and the PubCast would never have succeeded at all, and I wouldn’t be writing a book if not for you.
Happy New Year!

Travis,
I saw over on HogPro your comment about your thesis in Chp. 3 of your book & JK Rowling’s being an Anglican. Have you posted any book/Chp. 3 teasers on SoG? Or can you discuss the Anglican topic further in this thread? Or…will…you…just…keep…us…in…suspense…til…the…release…celebration…

New Year’s Blessings to you & yours!

Unfortunately, I’ll have to keep you in suspense…the primary reason is this: the readers and commenters here are so smart that if I reveal just a little, they’ll make all the conclusions I plan to make, and steal my thunder

Fair enough! I’ll stay tuned.
