After 12 hours of driving to do 2 lectures at LaSalle University - one for Joel Garver’s “Harry Potter and Philosophy” class (”Race, Class, and Gender in Harry Potter”) and one for the Philosophy Department (”Wizards at War: Harry Potter as a Commentary on Terrorism”), I’m home. I got in last night and slept really well. Both lectures were a lot of fun to give (and will be greatly expanded upon as chapters in the book), and to all who attended - thanks for coming and for your input.
I’m probably not going to get to a podcast this week, which means we’ve moved into the period of time in which podcasts are going to be scarce until the end of May. I’d guess that you’ll see only 2-3 more until after May 25.
A few quick “Around the Common Room” items:
- With the release of the Prince Caspian movie just over a month away, this post is getting some renewed attention.
- I also wrote a summary of the Magic in Prince Caspian a few years back.
- The “Portus Previews” podcast (subscribe through iTunes) for March is an interview with Jim Dale
- Jeffrey Overstreet: The Eagles are Coming!
- Remember when I called to the attention of our Australian readers the Cat-Poo coffee? It’s reached England now.

Mr. Jeffrey Overstreet pointed out that article of his on his blog a little while ago… Great article! He also talked about the coffee yesterday… Not my cup of tea by any means.
