Convention Alley was a blast. Welcome to new Hog’s Head readers who have now found the blog through our meeting at Convention Alley. Glad to have you here, and I hope you’ll join the discussion! If you’re a Facebook or Twitter user, we have a Twitter Page and a Facebook Blog Networks page you can join. And, of course, there’s the PubCast.
Find out more about The Hog’s Head and its expert staff of Harry Potter commentators (The Blogengamot) here.
To all readers: I was the only one to speak today, so I have no other talks to report on. The discussion on literacy in Harry Potter went very well, and there were lots of great insights afterwards.
Readers should note that logospilgrim’s site is now on the Links page, and thank you, logospilgrim, for the copy of your latest book! I’m looking forward to reading it.
And, of course, it was an excellent time tossing about ideas and theories with John Granger, whose friendship I greatly value. I’m currently reading the “Convention Alley” edition of The Deathly Hallows Lectures, and I’m certain you’ll all want a copy when it’s available.

My dearest Travis,
thank you so much for your kind words of support… I too have added your blog to the links list on my website. It was a blessing to speak with you and hear your marvelous lecture (I have dwelt upon the Fabian Society more than once since yesterday!); your words were a balm upon my heart. May I say that I can hardly wait to add your upcoming book to my library.

logospilgrim, thanks for your gracious words and for linking the site! I’m glad you’re here - and I’m still sad I pulled in just an hour too late to hear your talk! But I’ll be reading your book, of course.

Dear Travis,
I shall look forward to your impressions of my modest effort… I tend to write loosely connected haphazard collections of random, meandering thoughts
Do not worry about missing my talk -I merely read the final meditation contained in the book (with shaking hands).
Just to point out one small thing, as Columbo would say… The link is not, um, linked? re: Links page -do forgive me.

Any hints as to when The Deathly Hallows Lectures will come out? Also saw your book, Travis, listed on Zossima Press. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, it’s been listed on there for a long time. The title on there is incorrect.

Travis said, “The title on there is incorrect.”
I was hoping that was the case, since the title seemed a little dorky.

Thanks. I thought of it. Well, you’re the first person who’s said anything negative about it, anyway
I had planned to do mostly a Campbellian analysis at first, so I was playing with “The Hero with a Thousand Faces,” singling Harry out as one among many.

Perhaps dorky wasn’t the right word then, since you thought of it, perhaps maybe just clunky?

Dorky and clunky are both fine - I never really liked it, either
