Around the Common Room

JK Rowling has been writing twice as much as she planned for the seventh installment:

And though Rowling’s trying to do her best not to make the book as long as the 870 page long ‘The Order of the Phoenix’, she is not quite sure she’ll be able to stick to the plan.

“I still don’t think that the book will be as long as ‘Phoenix’, but if that keeps happening….” she added.

Here are my two cents: Make it as long as Phoenix!

Stories that the Vatican is speaking out against Harry Potter have begun circulating again. Apparently the media still hasn’t gotten it right that the Pope himself never opposed Harry Potter.

LaShawn Barber continues her series of reflections on John Granger’s work, in which she freely admits to having never read Lord of the Rings and also freely admits that she can’t back up her opposition to the scar-as-horcrux theory. Perhaps there’s still hope for your conversion, LaShawn. Feel free to drop on over there and share some of your scar theories with her.
