About Moe W

Background - The women in my family have been herbal healers for generations. This was a necessity because of where they lived and the economic situation back then. Since there were either no medical doctors, or the methods the doctors used were primitive and borderline sadistic, it was often more prudent for the community, at that time, to get healing advice from the village's Wise Women. Maybe this is the reason I have always had such a strong inclination to study herbs and what they can do. My study of herbology is mainly for the medicinal benefits for myself and my family, but I have found, in order to have a full understanding of the subject, I have had to also study the vast history, lore and legends as well as the belief systems pertaining to their uses. I hope to use this knowledge to explore several areas of the Harry Potter books. My education/employment – I both received a degree & was employed in chemistry. Chemistry has been very useful in many other areas of my life. I use it often in my herbal work. My personality - I wonder and I seek. A few of the authors I like besides J.K.Rowling - Tolkien, Arthur Conan Doyle, Heinlein, Joseph Campbell, Lewis Carroll, Madeleine L'Engle, Ursula La Guin, George R. Steward, Hans Christian Andersen, The Brothers Grimm, Travis Prinzi, and John Granger. Currently reading -The Simarillion by Tolkien with help from the Tolkien Professor, Corey Olsen. This time I am determined to really understand it. So far so good.

2– What are the rights of the person who is given a dose of this potion?

3– What are the responsibilities of the person who makes this potion in order for another to use it?

4– What are the responsibilities of the person who gives a dose to someone?

5– Consider the following, unsubstantiated, times the Draught of Living Death was used & the results.

  • Juliet Capulet used this potion, brewed by Friar Laurence, in order to convince her family she was dead. The plan was to run off with her new husband, Romeo Montague. Alas, the plan backfired. Romeo received news of his brides death before a messenger arrived to inform him of the plan. Romeo raced to Juliet’s tomb and committed suicide. When Juliet awoke from the potion, she found her husband dead. Juliet was so grief struck she killed herself using the same knife Romeo had used to end his own life. Friar Laurence was never punished for the parts he played in this tragic story
