Blogengamot Friends Meet in Person

by Jenna St. Hilaire on June 17, 2012

Harry Potter is known for bringing people together and at the end of May, Blogengamot members Arabella (Deborah Chan) and Jenna St. Hilaire met for the first time:

Deborah and Jenna live on opposite sides of Washington State (Deborah in Spokane and Jenna in Bellingham) and got to know each other online in the comments at HogwartsProfessor.com, and later at The Hog’s Head, where they joined the Blogengamot at the same time. They met at last in person a couple weeks ago.

The visit featured an erudite conversation about literature over lunch at the Colophon Cafe as well as a trip to the Colophon’s neighboring bookstore, Village Books, where Deborah bought the first three Harry Potter books on a 2002 road trip and where Jenna attended the midnight release party for Deathly Hallows dressed as Minerva McGonagall (unfortunately, no pictures of that event are available).

Here’s to Harry and the friends who might never have been but for him!

All pictures by Rick Chan. Thanks, Rick, for the photo evidence!

How wonderful you two met and were able to spend valuable time together discussing subjects you both love. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Note to Rick Chan: GREAT PHOTOS! :-D

Moe, it was a wonderful experience meeting Jenna; I’m sorry it took so long to do it! Jenna was a delight and it was fun to finally meet a fellow-online Potter friend; I wish I could meet more Potter pals from the Pub.

Ditto on what both Moe and Arabella said! Thank you so much, Jenna for posting this–a great celebration of friendship, books, and all things Harry Potter. :)

And I’m intrigued by your necklace, Arabella–what is it?

I bet the necklace is one of Arabella Fig’s cats. ;-)

Actually, the necklace piece is one of my cats (heh!), I wear it a lot, and it gets many admiring comments. It’s a dichroic glass piece called Alley Cat (each is different) made by an amazing local artist (http://www.essglass.com/. See Mythical Pins). Arabella had to be wearing a cat for such a momentous occasion, right?

Rick thanks you for the kind words about his photos.

You’re both very beautiful. I wanna meet you guys! Rest assured, I’m incredibly handsome in person, I’m not short, purple and angry although I wear a lot of purple and talk in a purple manner. Travis has got me on facebook, he’ll back me up on this.
