Free Book Challenge Changed

by Travis Prinzi on March 24, 2008

OK, so either no one wants a free book (which I can’t imagine), or no one wants to have their recording broadcast on the podcast.  So I’m changing the free book challenge:

You have till 7AM EST on Tuesday to just leave a comment on this post.  Any comment.  I’ll put them all into a hat, and Sophia will pick the winner out of a hat.  (Yes, I stole the idea from Team Redd, who had their little baby Jacob choose.)

I wanted to call, but my life is too busy to think of something that would make you laugh! Pathetic, I know…

2 MikeNo Gravatar March 24, 2008 at 9:59 am

Plus, some of us non-accented types were afraid you would make fun of us. :-)

3 MattNo Gravatar March 24, 2008 at 10:11 am

BHT lurker here. Was going to call too, but forgot… Isn’t the book, “On the Dark Edge of the Dark see of Darkness, in the Dark, After Dark” ?

4 LeanneNo Gravatar March 24, 2008 at 10:24 am

Sorry I didn’t call. I’m totally interested in the book but couldn’t think of anything clever to say in a message. This is a much less intimidating way to enter the contest. Thanks! Hope you pick mine, Sophia! :)

Sense I really have nothing to say, I’ll talk about my experience about going to church on Easter. At first I wasn’t going to go because I’m rubbish around people, but my sister change my mind. My parents never went to church but something kept bothering me to go. So on sunday I went. It was beautiful. They had a play where this girl was with Jesus but was steard away from him by drugs, money, and other bad things. then she saw Jesus and tried to run to him but the bad people kept pushing her away. Then in the end Jesus stood between her and the bad people and saved her. I tried so hard from not crying, but found that I wasnt the only one.

Dear Travis,

Please send me a free book.

Sincerely,
Jeremy

Between a cold & Easter preparations & an unfortunate lack of interest in the book, I didn’t call. Sorry.

Dear Sophia,

How was your Easter? Did you get to wear your best clothes to church? Did you have an Easter egg hunt? Hope that the Easter Bunny brought you lots and lots of jelly beans, chocolate bunnies, Skittles. M&Ms, jelly tots, Smarties, malted milk balls and chocolate eggs.

Love,

reyhan

If only I had been able to think up something funny to e-mail Travis, a thought commonly shared… For me the excuse is spring cleaning going on the entire Easter weekend !

“Enough is as good as a feast.”- Mary Poppins (among others)

Hope everyone had a joyous Easter!

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.” (Rev 21:5-6, NKJV)

Travis –
LOVE the podcast! This is my absolute favorite, and need to get my (almost) weekly fix. As an almost 40-year-old woman, I tire easily of the children on the other podcasts, so yours (and HP Progs) help me fill in the gaps! I had missed last weeks podcast, as I was on vacation and couldn’t download, so I am frantically trying to get caught up! A free book can only help, right?
Keep up the good work!

Shannon

Travis,

Love your podcast. Loved hearing you at Prophecy and can’t wait to see you again at Portus. And a free book would be nice.

Thanks for all your hard work and insights.

Judy

Cool! Throw my name in the hat!

15 DanaeNo Gravatar March 24, 2008 at 5:39 pm

My intention is not for you to put my name in the drawing twice, just so you know. I wanted to respond to Mrs. Pumpkin Juice to say that I think I know what the skit they did at your church was, and its all over youtube if you want to see it again. They did it at my church too! I had seen it before and gave it to some of my friends who are still in the youth group (I’m in college). I was hoping the church would use it someday, and what do you know, they did! Anyway, the song is called “Everything” and its by Lifehouse. Here a link:

For those of you that haven’t yet seen it, please do. Its so moving – one of the few dramas of its kind that gets me every time no matter how many times I’ve seen it.

What a great way to get more people to leave comments. I love the podcast keep up the good work.

Free book? I want a free book.

:-D

(It sounds like an absolutely superb book, too!)

18 John GrangerNo Gravatar March 24, 2008 at 6:33 pm

Sophia! Pick my name out of the hat, dear! Right here — that’s the one. Good Job! Now show, daddy…

19 RhondaNo Gravatar March 24, 2008 at 8:29 pm

Lookin’ forward to winning the book! :-)

20 Travis PrinziNo Gravatar March 24, 2008 at 8:39 pm

I think I’m going to do this free book thing more often. Some first-time commenters in this thread, no?

Sophia will be picking the name tomorrow morning, and I’ll announce it on the podcast (it’ll be the first thing I do after the opening music).

You have till 7AM EST!

Oh, and just so you know – a small portion of the back cover got damaged when it was sent to me. But hey, it’s a free book.

Free Andy P goodies??? Woohoo!

reyhan,
You asked Sophia about the Easter bunny but unfortunately it was unable to make it to my daughters.

23 JohnnyNo Gravatar March 25, 2008 at 1:13 am

Was the Easter bunny drunk? Or too tired. :P

24 MichaelNo Gravatar March 25, 2008 at 2:37 am

It looks like road kill.

(And Travis I would want the book but as I live all the way over in OZ I don’t want any extra shipping expenses for yourself.)

25 korg20000bcNo Gravatar March 25, 2008 at 2:46 am

Bunny took a dirt nap.

26 JonathanNo Gravatar March 25, 2008 at 10:57 am

Easter is cancelled

27 Shane DealNo Gravatar March 25, 2008 at 1:06 pm

Oh wouldn’t you know I didn’t see this until about six hours too late. For your information I did consider recording something, just didn’t get around to it. Ah well.

28 reyhanNo Gravatar March 25, 2008 at 6:44 pm

Matthew,

Pretty sick. Calvin (the comic strip character, not the religious leader) would have loved it.
