Geogia Mom Makes National News

The Laura Mallory protest against Harry Potter, which I’ve been keeping my readers updated on since April, has made the national news, now she’s brought her case to the state of Georgia. (HT to LaShawn)

It’s on the main web page of both Fox News and MSNBC.

It’ll be interesting to see the various reactions now that it’s a nationwide story.

Jared October 5, 2006 at 8:49 am: Where is Mallory getting Wicca from Harry Potter? I must’ve missed the passage where Harry petitioned the Goddess before casting his patronus. The only subject which comes close is Divination, which Rowling hardly treats seriously.
mary October 6, 2006 at 12:39 pm: Oh, dear. My personal jury is still out on whether these are Christian books. It will depend on how she wraps up the series, but, so far, I think there’s a lot of strong evidence that the books are Christian, if they are anything. In any case, are our children so weak of mind and will and imagination that they can be so easily indoctrinated? And doesn’t this woman realize that forbidding something makes it more attractive to rebellious children?

It’s altogether sad that she is doing this. It’s the sort of thing that gives Christians a bad name, and makes us look foolish to others – and not in a good way!
