Today is Edgar Allen Poe’s 200th birthday. The master of Gothic horror still speaks to readers from his grave with his brilliant tales and poems. We plan to give Poe some attention this coming October, in the 2009 Scary Story Read-Along. Last October, Dave wrote a post on Poe. So did Amy Sturgis.
Speaking of our favorite Gothic-lit thinker, she’s hosting a 200th birthday party for Edgar Allen Poe on the StarShipSofa Audio Science Fiction Magazine, and it’s sure to be an interesting and insightful listen.

I think, perchance, I’ll read The Raven today in honor of Poe. Either that or watch The Simpson’s version of The Raven.
Thanks for the shout out!
Why is a raven like a writing desk?
Because Poe wrote on both.
Deborah, haha! I’ve been listening to B.J. Harrison’s superb reading of Alice in Wonderland at The Classic Tales, and just came across that part. A very amusing answer!
