Azkatraz posted a list of scheduled get-togethers (“find your flock”) today. I’m wondering: How many Hog’s Head patrons, lurkers, and fans are planning to be at Azkatraz? Should we plan a Hog’s Head gathering?
If you’re a lurker who’s never commented, and you’re coming to San Francisco this summer, this would be a great time for your first comment. If a bunch of people respond, we may just have an actual “Hog’s Head,” real-life meeting!

Guess I should have come here first before looking at Twitter and Facebook! With apologies for the duplicative responses in multiple fora, I will be at Azkatraz and would like to do a meet-up, whether it’s a bigger party or just a dinner or lunch.
Me too.
I’m a bit of a lurker on the site but I will be at Azkatraz and would like to try going to a meet-up as I haven’t done that before. It’s always nice to meet more HP fans.
I’ve only posted here a few times, but looking forward to more of it when I get the free time
Man I wish I could go
Unfortunately (or fortunately, rather) I am getting married early august so the funds/time to spare are just not there at the moment :/ Now if there were to be a meetup somewhere in NYC or the surrounding area someday, that I would definitely be able to attend (Still trying to plan some way to make it to the New York C.S. Lewis Society: 40th Anniversary Weekend. If anybody else manages to make it I’d love to meet up.
I will be presenting on a panel at Azkatraz, “The Well-Organized Mind: Death and What Comes After” with John Granger and Garreth Fisher.
My wife Toni and I will also be working in the conference as press for Harry Potter Fan Zone, so I think a Hogs Head “Find your Flock” get together would be great!
We would love to meet all of the Hogs Head family on the West Coast.
If you all do this, please, please find a large oak table with ridiculously over sized chairs and take pictures of yourselves drinking mead and looking thoughtful and scholarly. Preferably in smoking jackets.
Seriously though, wish I could make it!
But how will you know one another? revgeorge will be easy to spot: look for a cheerful and remarkably, even disturbingly, chubby sailor. And we all know Travis from pictures from past conferences. But how about the others?
You should arrange for a secret password, or a handshake to let the others know you’re a Hog’s Head regular. Perhaps you could all carry pipes, like English dons of a certain era. Or say “‘pork chop” at unexpected moments. Or arrange for a flashmob: on a certain day, at a certain hour, half of you stand up and shout: “Great man, Dumbledore!” while the other half shout: “Manipulative liar!”
I’ll be at both the New York CSL symposium and the San Francisco Azkatran. I don’t expound on the Potter books, but I do promote the books of those who do (I’m the publisher/general editor of Zossima Press). As to a get-together at the Lewis weekend, this is a much more intimate affair than Azkatran. I imagine an audience of less than 100 people, which has the benefit of having more access to the speakers. The weekend allows plenty of free time on Saturday to mingle (check the schedule) plus time during meals to chat. In addition to John Granger attending, we hope Travis can make it too. And you’ll be able to hear Joseph Pearce (author of books on Tolkien, Chesterton, Lewis, Shakespeare, etc. etc.) and Christopher Mitchell (director of the famous Wade Center – a large research repository for study of the Inklings writers). I’ll be looking for you there, Graham, (and your lovely new bride – you can leave her behind).
Oops! I meant you CAN’T leave your new wife behind.
Good correction, Bob, as Graham’s “lovely new bride” has also commented on this thread
*GASP* Bob! Such an insensitive thing to say, Sarah is shocked and offended by your obviously lack of manners. Just kidding
I can’t make any guarantee that we will be there, we are supposed to be leaving for Ohio for wedding preparations on the 9th, but I am absolutely going to try to make it friday and saturday. If we do end up coming it would be great to meet some people who we have interacted with but have yet to meet *cough* Travis *cough* (Still haven’t been able to make a single one of your events to my deep regret).
Hi! I’m usually found flitting around in the leakylounge, but I do lurk here also, and I’m going to be at Azkatraz, (Yipee!) so I would love to attend a get together of the Hog’s Head peeps! Go for it, Travis!
Unfortunately I won’t make it to Azkatraz, but will go to the C.S. Lewis weekend.
Hey, I noticed that Cafe Press has a T-Shirt that has the “Hog’s Head” logo on it. If someone(Travis, maybe?) will arrange for there to be a place and time for us to meet, we could all wear “Hog’s Head” shirts or buttons to identify each other. What do you think? Would that work?
Wow, you found that shirt? Fascinating.
I was considering making a Hog’s Head Cafe Press store some time ago, and I was just playing with options. Had no idea that was up there, and I couldn’t even find it when I searched!
I did do this Zazzle store a while back, and I’ve been considering updating it and posting links again.
I’m going to have to look into ways of setting up a Hog’s Head meeting. It’s too late to submit “flocks” for Azkatraz. We’ll have to organize it through this site and hope people remember.
I’m down to “flock,” if you accept lurkers. I’ll keep checkin this site for updates.
