Another great cast Travis. I can’t wait for the months proceeding the last book’s release.

I love how the covers really have shown that whilst book six may have dropped a few things book five brought up, they will still be VERY important in book seven. I hope this at least makes Red Hen happy. She was harking on about how JK had ‘forgotten these elements and that even by bringing them up in DH, they were half baked and not well developed. Ah well.

And one last thing, Travis I am an illustrator/design student. You mentioned you needed help with the blog and it’ design. I could be that person. If you want further assistance, email me, tennis_trihardAThotmailDOTcom.

Michael, I took the liberty of converting your email address here to a text format.  The spammers come along and gobble up email addresses like that, and before you know it, you spam will triple.

Great podcast, Travis. You pointed out the things about the covers that others have seen as well as some that have been missed. Now I need to go back and look at the covers again.

I find it interesting that people who don’t want to acknowledge any possibility of Christian themes in the books, refuse to see anything Christian in the artwork on the US cover. But they were the same ones who rebelled at the idea put forth in OotP that it was love that would save all.

I’ve wondered if they are in the Death Room at the Ministry, and possibly we are seeing the sky because the rest has been destroyed, or if that red and orange is fire rather than the sky. Just a thought.

Thanks for the mention. :)

If I can’t get them to agree to a real interview, I may just break up my questions and feed them slowly through their comments section.

Travis,
I commented on how great I think your podcast is over on itunes. I am amazed at your insight and am thrilled at how informative your podcast is, especially since you operate solo the majority of the time.

I liked hearing your thoughts on the book covers. One comment you made that inspired me to share my thoughts this week was about the curtains on the American Deathly Hallows cover. While the curtains may indeed be the veil, my first idea was that they symbolized the end of an act or story, as if we were audience members attending a great play during the past decade. The same curtains are featured on the cover of Sorcerer’s Stone, the beginning of the play. I cried when I saw the curtains on the Deathly Hallows cover. Seeing the curtains on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows made me realize for the first time that we are about to experience the end of an era. July will truly be a bittersweet month.

I’m inclined to agree with Bridget. Mary GP is using curtains to “frame” the series – a lead-in and lead-out of the drama as a reference to the theater experience.

I was planning to post on this! Bridget, I agree with you. I think you’re right on there. The curtains are Grand Pre’s way of signaling that it is the final act.
