by Travis Prinzi on December 8, 2009

On Tap: Introduction to Harry Potter & Imagination. News and commentary. Frivolity. Your comments, questions, and declarations of heresy are welcome.

Visit The Hog’s Head at Farpoint Media! Leave reviews of the show here (which I’d greatly appreciate), and make sure you check out Farpoint’s other great offerings. I’ll begin featuring short promos of other Farpoint shows in coming PubCasts.

Thanks for the pubcast, Travis.
Tolkien and CS Lewis are some of the heavyweights of fantasy/fairy tale writing and both of them already had standing as greatly respected academics. Rowling didn’t/wasn’t.
How much do you think this may effect her standing in the pantheon of fantasy greats?

Matthew, James Thomas addresses this well in his essay in Hog’s Head Conversations. It does most certainly affect the way she’s perceived, but I think in the long run, the way many academics are already responding to Rowling’s work (in a positive way) bodes well for its future acceptance as a “fantasy great.”

Aha, now who’s ripping on Gambon!!!! ;)

Oh, I guess you did have some other things on the podcast besides Gambon ripping; they were good too. :)

As for news segments, you could probably drop that if you wanted. I usually check Leaky every day or so for the Potter news. I’d only report things that really interested you & that you had some commentary on. Good to hear another overview of your book; I really need to find my copy. Either that or buy another one…

But I don’t want to. This was a weird news segment only because all the original stories, which I had lots of comments on, were long past, because I recorded this over a month ago. So I had to cut a bunch of stuff, and I had to make mention of the DVD.

Keeping it’s fine too. You can never get enough Travis Prinzi, you know. :)

Well, I’ll either keep it and be interesting, or drop it altogether if I find I’m just reciting headlines ;-)

Travis,
Are you going to release an e format of imagination ? I made a promise to my wife not to bring any more paper copy books into the house (except for textbooks). So I thought I should ask you here if there is a reason. ( Maybe you are trying to save the incredibly rare electron tree ?) I recently purchased and greatly enjoyed John’s HP Bookshelf and HP Spell and am planning on getting Fiddler’s gun as soon as they find enough electron trees to cut down and print me one. So my question is why can’t I get yours?

Dadezzz, I’ve wanted an ebook for some time. That’s my publisher’s decision, not mine. Head on over to Zossima’s site and contact them through their contact form there.

Travis,
I went straight over and left a comment encouraging them to publish your book in electronic format. The question now is how often should I repeat that procedure ? Once a week ? or Twice a week ?

If you don’t get a response, check back in a week and ask again.
