Image from Half-Blood Prince Trailer

Update 2: I took down the poll and its post until the Half-Blood Prince trailer is released.

Update: Another image, this one of Dumbledore and some fire – probably in the cave?

HPANA reports the release of an image of young Tom Riddle from the trailer for Half-Blood Prince to be released tonight at 9pm EST on AOL.com.  That’s actually a younger Dumbledore in the background, too.

He actually looks much more like Christian Coulson than Ralph Fiennes. Isn’t he supposed to be Fiennes nephew? Weird.

And didn’t Dumbledore have a purple or lavender suit on in the book?

Velvet purple indeed…

I am amazed with the photograph. The boy exudes so much of what I imagined the 10 year old Voldemort to be shrouded in. I’m very happy.

It is an amazing picture. Very menacing in a nice subtle way. Dare I say it, but the young Hero may have nailed his character much better than some other people in the photo with him. :)

Well maybe *HE* read the book, as opposed to some other people in the photo with him, revgeorge.

Penny,

You don’t think the lady who plays the orphanage director read the book? ;)

Mugglenet just posted a link to a clip from the trailer being played on MSN, about 1:29 in length. Lots of the young Riddle & Dumbledore. Nothing of the actual Half Blood Prince himself. Bit of Harry, too. Very encouraged by seeing the young Riddle; very discouraged by seeing so much Gambon.

Just watched the Mugglenet clip. Gambon was competent. Nothing special. No gravitas. No aura of power. But no hysterics or histrionics either. If he can just keep doing that, keep it even albeit flat, I’d be content.

What I found jarring was the contrast between the sullen, self-contained boy and the snarling, inhuman monster he becomes later on.
