It’s not really the best or the worst I’ve ever seen, but honestly I wasn’t expecting a whole lot out of this kind of project, and yes I do read all kinds of comics. It captured her likeness, which is what’s most important, so that’s good.

The image on the upper left of the six thumbnails makes Rowling look like Heather Mills, frankly. And that creepy guy in the upper right image looking down on Rowling and all the magical creatures — yeah, that guy needs a restraining order.

As a semi-avid comic book reader (my brother got me hooked on Batman and I still haven’t been able to quit) I have to say I am pretty disappointed with the art. It just isn’t that great :/

Revgeorge, I have never read a comic book in my life – although Jim Lee did exhibit his gorgeous Batman sketches where I work. But for what my two cents are worth, the cover of Female Force reminded me of Pleasure Town from Anchorman; The Legend of Ron Burgandy. That huge unicorn frightens me!

Certainly not the best comic artwork I’ve seen but also certainly not the worst. 3 & a half decades of reading comic books should give me a little expertise.

I’m more interested if they actually got JKR’s story right.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Dave, I don’t think the art looks all that great – although I too am no comic book connoiseur. What is going on with Jo’s um…shirt… in the first picture on the page with the plane?? However, I like that they put in the image of the Dementor to represent depression – that’s one place where they do seem to have done their fact checking.

I’ll be interested to read it, but they don’t appear to have done much fact-checking. For instance, Jo said time and time again that she never wrote on napkins.

Will confess that in another life, I used to be into comic books. Not a comic book art hound, but familiar with the art. And I don’t think the Female Force art looks that bad. Brings back memories of the art in Hellblazer and other strips with a more “realistic” feel. More importantly, the panels I saw made me want to read more – which says something, given how we know how the story turns out.
