Another example of the mess called American evangelicalism can be found in the new, controversial film Jesus Camp. I just started doing some reading on it, having seen it on the news at work, and the first article I came across mentioned Harry Potter.
At Kids on Fire [Christian camp], it’s all Christian values, all the time.
Even Harry Potter doesn’t make the cut.
One little boy said he didn’t read the books because they were Satanic and didn’t bring him closer to God.
Poor kid. I wonder how he knows they’re Satanic? Funny…he didn’t read them because they “didn’t bring him closer to God.” How does one work that statement out?
Seriously…I’d join one of the collapsing mainline denominations before signing on at the Jesus Camp. I do hope the media allow Christians who disagree with this Jesus Camp mentality to have their say. I’m available for interviews.
I’ll not be waiting by the phone.

Hi,
Just came across your sight and had to drop a line. I am a sunday school teacher for an Episcopal Church in Calif. We just finished doing a 6 week bible study on Harry Potter. It was alot of fun. We used book one and reviewed the story of good against evil and what the bible has to say about it. God wants to open your mind & heart not shut them. I have not seen Jesus camp & dont want to.
