Any fans of LOST out there? Tonight, we get three full hours to start off the final season! (The first hour is recap.)
This has been a fascinating series of television, full of references to many of our favorite authors and philosophers (Charlotte Staples Lewis (?!), Edmund Burke, John Locke, among many others). The tension between the supernatural and science, faith and fact has been interesting to follow, and I’m eager to see where they go with it in 6th and final season.
If you’ve got theories and predictions, please visit the thread that’s been started at the Forum and join the discussion! I’ll be watching tonight’s show with my wife, but I might also try to live-tweet it a bit from my Twitter account. You should also follow EW’s Jeff Jensen (HT to Arabella Figg).
Now: time to spend the remainder of the day refreshing my knowledge of Seasons 1-5 and reading some theories.

*So* excited! I can honestly say I’m become more engrossed in LOST than any other show ever. I feel the same sense of eager anticipation I did for Deathly Hallows, and the sadness is already starting to kick in that it’s almost over. Hard to see how they can wrap it up in a truly satisfying way, but I have faith that they will…
I am SO excited! I’ve been a viewer since the first episode, and I agree; it’s an excellent exploration of big ideas. (Incidentally, I recently reread Jules Verne’s The Mysterious Island, and I definitely see why the creators credited it as one of the key inspirations for the series.) I’ve been especially anxious about tonight ever since I saw this. Talk about embedded clues!
I love Lost. I rewatched all the seasons the past month and can’t wait for tonight.
Amy, I agree. That image is really something. I’ve been playing with theories for the last few months, and that image feeds them quite a bit
Maybe once it’s done, I’ll go back and watch the whole show. Jamie loves it. I wanted to like it, but I couldn’t stick out the first season.
This kind of show is usually right up my alley. But for whatever reason, Lost just never resonated with me very much. And yes, I feel like I’ve missed out on something!
Wooho can’t wait. Tonights going to be awesome! Usually I wait and watch the whole season on netflix. Because I’m all for instant gradiation. But this time I can’t wait!
I am so pumped, being a huge LOST fan. I feel exactly like Erin–a mix of eagerness and grief, as I did just before Deathly Hallows came out. I’ve been following Lost since the beginning, through all its twists, turns and brain cramps, and sit gripped with intensity through each episode.
There are three Lost Supper photos. You can see two (if not all three) of them at EW.com. Reading Jeff “Doc” Jensen’s theories, analysis and recaps has made this one fierce, geektastic joyride; a Christian, he’s sort of the Granger/Prinzi of Lostdom.
Believe it or not, I’ve no one to discuss LOST with, and it’s been hard, especially when I feel I’m about to explode.
Yay, we’re so excited at our house!
Dave, we watched the first few seasons on Netflix before we caught up. I liked it better then, when we were able to watch multiple episodes in an evening. Give it a try!
Arabella — I did not know about Jeff Jensen’s recaps etc. on EW, so I am very grateful to you for pointing them out. He’s terrific! I’ve gone back through and read all of his season 5 stuff (to prep for this week’s ep), and then went and read his recap of the season 6 premiere. Thanks for letting us know about him!
Janet and everyone, you’re welcome on the Jeff Jensen tip. I honestly feel he’s the jumping point for serious discussion, as he gets to the allegorical and anagogical levels so well. I just saw that the ew.com LOST page has been revamped and it’s great. You can easily read recaps from all the seasons, too, as well as see other news. You might want to check out last season’s The Lamp Post episode for the Narnian hat tips. There’s an excellent recent pre-premiere article featuring a “roundtable” of EW fans on what they need this season to deliver.
