I'm hoping I don't ruin the book for myself or others.

It took me along time to go in search out the Harry Potter sites, and it took me even longer to post my first theory.
I have a tendency to guess endings in movies, and I’ve ruined several movies that way. But when I find a movie that surprises me, I love it. I have hope that JK will surprise me. The truth is I don't think JK has given us all the pieces of the puzzle. A good write doesn't. They give us just enough of the edges, to tease us, and then “wham” they slam down the center and we see how it all fits together.

Deborah, goodness, no, that's not what I meant. Keep the speculations and theories coming. I think the debate is great. The post was more of a caution to myself than anyone else. I am quite certain that I'll not be disappointed at all with Book 7. The only problem is that I tend to get really excited about theories and defending them, and if I go into book 7 hoping that my theories come true (especially since I've broadcasted them publicly to over 5,000 unique readers per month), I'll be distracted from enjoying it to the fullest.

Your contributions have been great here. Keep them coming, for sure. In fact, I added the plugin on the right because I wanted the horcrux theory posts highlighted so everyone knew they were happening and could join in.

That is why I like to play devil's advocate sometimes, showing people that things aren't as closed book as they sometimes make it seem. The possibilities ARE endless like you say, but that is part of what makes speculating so much fun. Our immaginations run wild! I'm not sure that ANY of us have stayed the course in every single theory though, so don't feel singled out. I will certainly add myself to the list of disclaimer supporters though, if it hasn't already been made clear to everyone thus far.

As for your observation that reading the last book may be disapointing for you (as well as possibly others)if things get carried away with on the speculation aspect, I am sorry you feel that way. Though this concern is well founded, I feel it less likely concidering you are talking about a bunch of avid fans here. I also think JKR is too good an author to let that happen. I certainly don't want to do anything that may contribute to that however. So, I'm afraid I need you to clarify the second addendum to your eloquent disclaimer, if you don't mind. Do you want us not to debate things anymore, or just not get carried away with it? Or, is it the speculations about what WILL happen in the last installment that you would like quailed or lessened?

I would like to note that because of all the fine detective work involved in commenting/debating, it is also true that we are weeding out missunderstandings, erronious details and the like. This is good, as it will help us understand the final book all the better. I personally like this sort of brainstorming mentality. It strengthens my observation skills. I will, however, respect your wishes since this is your site. I love what you have done with it and I in no way want to recreate it in anyway contrary to your liking. I appologize too, for any irritation I may have personally caused you. That certainly wasn't my intention. You have been nothing short of an eye opener to me, and I appreciate that. Thanks! :)
