I already saw this, but as there’s no comments yet, I’d like to say this is absolutely wicked! ^_^
I saw some footage last night in the Academy Awards’ closing montage of upcoming films. I was going to track it down and post it, but this is way frikkin’ better.
Dumbledore, the ring of fire, and Lake Inferi… it looks fantastic!
The first time I read HBP it struck me as being very cinematic, and I think it may be the most cinematic of the series. I very much liked what Yates did with OotP; I thought he captured characters like Umbridge, Luna, and Neville perfectly, and did well at bringing out the relationship between Sirius and Harry. I was glad to hear Yates would be back for HBP and DH. (Plus it helps me to see all the films as one series if they don’t keep changing directors.) Nicholas Hooper’s music in OotP was fantastic. So I’ve been looking forward to HBP for awhile, and the trailers so far haven’t been disappointing. This may be one of the best of the films.
Okay, first chance I’ve had to see this footage with sound. Bring on the movie, I say! Looks very good; seems like they’ve managed to pack a lot of the book HBP into the movie version. We’ll see if that makes it better or not so good, but I just want to see it.
On a side note, I’m not sure, though, that I can handle a Gambon Dumbledore who’s not shouting all the time. All his dialogue in the clip was soft & coherent. What’s up with that?
It’s looking better and better with each new trailer. I suspect the first few trailers didn’t have all of the special effects in place, which explains why we now see the Inferi for the first time. Good stuff!
revgeorge, is your head going to explode if Gambon actually pulls off the performance of a lifetime, and he nails Dumbledore perfectly for this film? Will that simply shake your HP movie worldview to its very core?
I think it would just tick me off that much more — “Why couldn’t he do this before!?!”
It’d be more of the second reaction, Dave. “Why couldn’t he do this before!?”
It’s a good trailer. A little stereotyped – all those crescendos and climaxes – but thrilling all the same.
Gambon doesn’t have many more lines than what we’ve heard him speak in the previous trailer. He’s still bad – he’s just bad in a different way from before, that’s all.
Hm, I’m not going to judge Gambon in HBP until I’ve seen the whole movie. I imagine it would be quite hard to play Dumbledore, he is kind of weird..
Dumbledore was supposed to be very different from the first 4 parts in the 5th one.. But he wasn’t supposed to be so angry, and not at all in part 4 (“Did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?!”). I hope he will do a fairly good Dumbledore in HBP, and it seems he will from everything I have heard and seen until now
.
Does the part with the birds bother anyone else? Hermione seems to have the wrong expression, but it might just be because we only see a little piece of that scene. It also bothers me that those birds just miss ron and splat against the wall like water balloons. They are supposed to really attack Ron!
Oh, and I just noticed that they use two forms of apparating now: you see Dumbledore apparating in a manner that seems a bit like in the book and the Death Eaters like they did in the MoM.. I think that is very strange and personally I don’t like the Death Eaters apparating at all.. What do you all think about it?
