It hadn’t even struck me that we’re in something of an interlibrum, a waiting phase between Deathly Hallows and the index-card prequel to the Harry Potter series. ZoeRose gives her speculation, and I don’t think you could find a better piece of speculating than that.
Other ideas?

Very neat piece of speculation, yes.
But if it is to be a prequel, the story of James and Sirius’ misdeed and the resulting detention has to be linked to some element of the story. And to truly complete the circle, it has to involve Bertram Aubrey’s head, swollen to twice its size.
Was this the time the arrogant James Potter first caught Lily Evans’ attention by doing something which showed his better side?
Was this the time that Peter Pettigrew first thought of going over to the other side, spurred perhaps by the realization that he was never going to be fully accepted by the “A” team of James and Sirius?
I read ZoeRoses speculation. Not sure I buy it, though. From what’s been heard, James & Sirius’s adventure sounds more like it happened outside of school. But I guess we’ll know in a couple of days since the auction’s supposed to be tomorrow.
It’s online now. Cute, and with one line that made me crack up, but nothing earth-shattering. For 800 words, I’m pretty happy

It’s a cute story. But I’m not too enamoured of it. I don’t know. Just don’t have too much liking for James & Sirius in their smarmy days.
HP Progs has a transcript of the prequel up, for people, like me, who have trouble reading Jo’s script.
I read it.
Bad idea. Because now, of course, I want more. Specifically, I want to know who was after them. And why.
Also, I felt grief. To see those two when they were young, arrogant, carefree, and happy. And to know that it’s not going to last.
It was fun to read. And yes, Jo’s writing is a challenge.
Like revgeorge, I’m not too interested in James and Sirius when they were younger and annoying. However, any story about the two of them is bound to include some of the other characters who do interest me–Lily, Lupin, maybe even Severus. Well, maybe not, if this is after they are out of school. But it would likely include Dumbledore in the formative days of the Order of the Phoenix, and that would be interesting.
So, if she does end up writing it, I’d read it.

I’ve got some things to say about it, which I’ll post later, but it was fun – and difficult – to read, I agree.
