The L.A. Times reports that Ron Howard will begin work on The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft. It appears that the movie will be based on the series of comics from Image.
“It very cleverly uses H.P. Lovecraft in a fictional way, but there’s some loose biographical elements. But it certainly has the flavor and the tone of Lovecraft…The character is a very young Lovecraft… Look, it’s challenging, but if we get it right, it could be really original and psychologically interesting and scary in a great way. And it’s a graphic novel, this is new territory for me.”
Sounds interesting.

Has anyone read the Image comics? Any good?
I’ve seen the comics in a comic book store. That’s as close as I’ve come.
Although I think Howard is taking a good attitude towards this film: “Look, it’s challenging, but if we get it right, it could be really original and psychologically interesting and scary in a great way.” The key words are, of course, “if we get it right.”
I probably won’t see it, whatever the case, since I’m usually not into horror movies. Plus, of Howard’s movies, I see the ones that I prefer are mostly his early work.
Hmmm. Howard’s early work? I haven’t seen any of Ron Howard’s films since he played Winthrop Paroo.
Stuff like Willow, Splash, & Grand Theft Auto. Not Opie or anything like that.
Opie says ‘if we get it right, it could be really original and psychologically interesting and scary in a great way.’ … Or, it could be like The DaVinci Code. And that would be truly horrifying.
