Several quick housekeeping items here at SoG. First, shameless self-promotion:
- I’m finally starting to get up to speed on how to promote a blog, and I’ve added the blog to Technorati. I’m not entirely sure what that is, but I know it’s supposed to help get the blog more exposure. I’ve added a tag on the sidebar which allows you to mark this as a favorite with Technorati. If you could do that, I’d be very appreciative! Here’s the button, and you can always find it on the sidebar.

- iTunes – Currently, the Hog’s Head PubCast ranks 131 (which is way, waaaayy down the list) on iTunes when searching for “Harry Potter” in the podcast section. Thank you, thank you to those who have written such generous and glowing reviews at iTunes. If you haven’t written one yet, and you need to procrastinate on whatever you’re doing, I’d be really grateful if you take a minute, launch your iTunes, go to the store, search for “Hog’s Head PubCast,” and write a review. I’d like to get the podcast a lot higher up on the list.
- Finally, if you know your way around blog promotion – how to get this blog and the podcast more popular – there might just be a new spot on the Blogengamot for you. I’m thinking if we could have someone whose sole job it was to do that sort of thing, it’d be great.
Other assorted items:
- If you have not done so yet, head over to Zossima.com and check out the two new offerings on George MacDonald. I have them in hand and plan to do a couple of review posts in the next month.
- I have a speaking engagement tonight, and some work to get done over the weekend, but I’m hoping to sit down Sunday and record a pubcast. If not this weekend, definitely Wednesday.
- Here is the latest news release from Portus 2008.

I’m not really sure what Technorati is either, but you have been faved nevertheless. I went ahead and created an account also.
Jeremy, thank you. I appreciate it!
Travis,
Currently on Podcast Alley, Sword of Gryffindor/Hogshead Pubcast comes up 75th if you search by using the terms ‘Harry Potter.’ HP Progs by contrast comes up 5th. So, maybe if you directed people to podcastalley.com. You can vote every month for podcasts & also leave comments for them. I just left one yesterday there for you. Registration for the site is free, although you can use most of the features without signing up.
revgeorge, yes! I tried to do that yesterday, but I forgot my login and password, and there was no “Forgot your username?” thingy to click. Then I got distracted.
I’ll get on that as soon as possible.
Travis,
I don’t if you’d be willing to consider adding a paypal button to the website. That way we could make direct donations to help support the site. This would work better for me, since I probably won’t buy stuff through the SOG amazon store. Just a thought.
Also, a Frappr map might be nice, too. I don’t know if it would help SOG business, but it’d be nice to see where we’re all located at.
revgeorge, I’ll look into both of those things tonight!
revgeorge, it’s up!
Thanks, Travis. I put my money where my mouth is & made a small donation. I really do appreciate all the work you & the Blogengamot put into the site.
revgeorge, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. Thanks.
