Philosophy

PhilosophyCover Front OnlyAdam Barkman has written a book which will quickly become essential to C.S. Lewis studies: C.S. Lewis and Philosophy as a Way of Life. A hardcover volume from Zossima Press, over 600 pages in length, it explores C.S. Lewis as philosopher, a realm Lewis studies that needed a work this in-depth, comprehensive, and profound.

David Baggett, a philosopher who’s done work on our favorite boy wizard, calls Barkman’s book a “magisterial work…a sheer delight to read.”

Back from LaSalle

After 12 hours of driving to do 2 lectures at LaSalle University – one for Joel Garver’s “Harry Potter and Philosophy” class (“Race, Class, and Gender in Harry Potter”) and one for the Philosophy Department (“Wizards at War: Harry Potter as a Commentary on Terrorism”), I’m home. I got in last night and slept really well. Both lectures were a lot of fun to give (and will be greatly expanded upon as chapters in the book), and to all who attended – thanks for coming and for your input.

I’m probably not going to get to a podcast this week, which means we’ve moved into the period of time in which podcasts are going to be scarce until the end of May. I’d guess that you’ll see only 2-3 more until after May 25.

A few quick “Around the Common Room” items:
