The Hog’s Head at Azkatraz!

by Travis Prinzi on March 5, 2009

Great news!  The Hog’s Head PubCast will be included in the Azkatraz Podcast Palooza on Monday, July 20th!  This is going to be a fantastic session of the PubCast, as I will be joined by John Granger and James Thomas for a panel discussion.  This was our proposal:

The topic will be a discussion of the postmodern social-justice elements of the series: how Rowling advocates character transformation leading to outward social change as her method and prescription for creating a just society.  We’ll discuss how literature works within a culture to reflect it and critique it, and how, in particular, the symbols and themes of the Potter series accomplish this.

And we’ll even have a lot of fun doing it.

Since I don’t want to both moderate and be a panel member, I have another exciting announcement about this podcast: It will be moderated by our favorite Potter Podcasters: Greg and Penny of HP Progs!

We’ll be preceded by SpellCast, and followed by Hogwarts Radio (whom I’ve joined before and will again) and an reality-TV type event that will select the next great Potter podcast.

This event just keeps getting better and better.  If you haven’t registered yet, do so!  I have great news about my Azkatraz proposals, which I’ll share soon, and a couple podcasts coming soon, one of which is recorded and just needs some editing.  Stay tuned!

By the way, for HogPro fans who also visit here: John Granger’s website is working on recovering itself.  Should be back to normal soon.

I would love to go to this. But some of us aren’t famous with our pictures in the paper! ;)

Wooo Hoooo!!! Glad I decided to stay the extra day to catch the podcast palooza. Now, if only airlines have slashed fares before I get my flights booked.

Thanks for the update on John’s site. I wondered what was going on. At least now, instead of saying the domain name has expired we’re back to where John’s site was at as of May 2007. :)

Yes, thanks for the update on John’s site. I keep checking back and it still is stuck in a time warp where DH hasn’t even been published yet. Found the Snape-Vitriol post, which I had never read before, quite interesting, though!

Thanks for the update on John’s website – I was confunded! I agree with Lily – it was interesting to time-warp back to pre-DH.

Congratulations Travis!

A Hog’s Head PubCast at Azkatraz2009 with Travis, John Granger and James Thomas on the panel??!!

For those in the literary realm or the fandom realm of Harry Potter, you can’t get a better panel to delve into Harry’s world. If there is any way a Hog’s Head Pro or HogPro fan can get to Azkatraz I would highly recommend this event.

Revgeorge, I’m looking forward to meeting you. Glad you’re making the trip!

Well, I’m pretty much committed to coming to Azkatraz as I just booked my airfare.
