The first of two expected books from John Granger (update: looks like John is in the process of turning his website into a blog!) has finally arrived – Who Killed Albus Dumbledore? is available from amazon.com. John Granger, editor, is one of 6 contributors to the book which takes 6 different points of view on what happened in Half-Blood Prince. It’s an interesting read (I was sent a reviewer’s copy several months ago), and it definitely reflects a wide range of guesswork on the last two Harry Potter novels.
Visit the link, and you’ll see my name in the book description! If I recall, part of the profits are going to the Children’s High-Level Group, an organization founded by Rowling and others to stand up for children’s rights in Europe. Get this book and Janet Batchler’s, and you’ll have a pretty good look at the wide scope of Harry Potter speculation.
John Granger’s work has been vital to a Christian understanding of the Harry Potter novels.
I’ll be taking up the Joyce Odell theory in an upcoming pubcast.

First, let me extend apoligies for what appears to be an oversight. The chapter and theory which your PubCast discusses is not actually in the final published version of ‘Who Killed ALbus Dumbledore?’
No. Not at all. Even the chapter title is different.
We were ready to go to press with it when Rowling made her announcement — which sent us scrambling to apply emergency patches and disclaimers. That interim version seems to have been the version you got.
However, due to a delay in coordination among six contributors and the project manager, as well as some 11th hour realizations, my chapter was completely revised and the whole section regarding the overheard Prophecy was discarded to make room for issues which are far more germaine to the central investigation of that chapter, namely the Case of the Fallen Headmaster. The chapter now concerns only the question of to what degree the Murder of Albus Dumbledore was “rigged”, and its possible effect upon the final segment of the story arc.
The chapter is now entitled ‘Welcome to My Murder: Act I’.
Thank you for bringing the book to attention, hgowever, and for your review on amazon.com.
