Wizard Haiku- Let the creative juices flow

Not in the books, though

Haiku is a type of Japanese poetry that takes the form of three lines.  The first and third lines have five syllables and the second line has seven. ie:

5
7
5

So please contribute with your haikus with a fantasy/mythic/sci-fi bent.

Maybe we can get Travis to select a winner and hand out a prize.

Pale adaptations

Lacking depth and human warmth

Gambon ruins it all

Just kidding above. Didn’t have time to think of anything better. When I write poetry it is usually haiku, though, so I’ll have to do some thinking on this one. Very good exercise, though, Korg.

There’s a website with lines from the Potter series that are in the form of haiku: http://www.factmonster.com/spot/haikuharry.html

Here are a few:

From the spider’s mouth
Lie upon lie to deceive
The Dark Lord succumbs

Memories so bright
Of a smiling green-eyed lass
A doe picks her way

A perfect circle
Avada Kedavra meets
Expelliarmus

Ollivander said
The wand chooses the wizard
Tom didn’t listen

Parchment, grass, and Ron
Her practiced hand hit the air
It’s Amortentia

Tom Riddle sneers at
A songbird and an old hat
Harry saves Ginny

And here’s one my daughter wrote and asked me to post:

Harry the wizard
Lives in Gryffindor Tower
He is a Seeker

Mike,
I like yours a lot. Just got to keep to the syllable count.

revgeorge, I like your haiku, but it requires that one pronounce Hermione her-me-on, like in the Lego Harry Potter You Tube clip, rather than her-my-o-ni like I prefer.

Actually I was going with the pronunciation “hair-my-knee.” I think it’s the one they use in the movies, for the most part. Plus, I had to get it down to three syllables. :)

Star Trek was great! My trekkie husband (like, he owns a Klingon dictionary!) also loved it.
